# Onboarding Step 1: Pick a Source (/docs/projects/onboarding-source)

The first onboarding step asks: **what should Layers analyze to seed your
brand brief?** You pick one of three source tiles. GitHub is
pre-selected by default and marked "Recommended".

## Options [#options]

### GitHub repository [#github-repository]

Best if you have a mobile app repo. Clicking **Continue** either takes
you to the repo picker (if you already have Layers' GitHub App installed
for this Org) or opens a popup to install the GitHub App first.

### App Store listing [#app-store-listing]

Clicking **Continue** opens a search screen where you can add an App
Store (iOS) listing and/or a Google Play (Android) listing by name or
store ID.

### Website URL [#website-url]

Clicking **Continue** opens a single-field URL screen.

## VSCode workspace [#vscode-workspace]

If you're running Layers inside the VSCode extension, the Start screen
swaps to a VSCode-specific flow that uses your open workspace instead of
the GitHub / App Store / Website tiles.

## Choosing more than one source [#choosing-more-than-one-source]

The wizard seeds the project from a single source. You can attach
additional app listings, a website, or a GitHub repo after onboarding
from [Project settings → Apps](/docs/projects/settings-apps).

## What if I have nothing yet? [#what-if-i-have-nothing-yet]

Pick **Website URL** and enter any brand page you control. The analyzer
will scrape it for basic brand info.
