# Onboarding Step 2: Connect App Store (/docs/projects/onboarding-appstore)



Reached if you picked **App Store listing** in
[step 1](/docs/projects/onboarding-source).

## Flow [#flow]

1. Click **App Store** or **Google Play** to open a search modal.
2. Search by name or paste a bundle ID (e.g. `com.acme.app`) /
   App Store ID.
3. Pick the matched listing. It appears in the connected apps list.
4. Optionally add the other platform. When you're ready, click
   **Continue**.

## What Layers uses [#what-layers-uses]

Public listing metadata for the app you picked (name, description,
icon, screenshots, category). The server-side analyzer runs on the
next screen ([Confirm details](/docs/projects/onboarding-confirm)) and
populates the brand brief.

Layers does not request App Store Connect / Play Console developer
access during onboarding.

## Connecting iOS + Android together [#connecting-ios--android-together]

Add one of each in the same step before clicking Continue. Both become
entries on [Project settings → Apps](/docs/projects/settings-apps).

## Apple Search Ads requires extra setup [#apple-search-ads-requires-extra-setup]

Connecting the App Store listing alone does not grant Apple Search Ads
access. ASA requires separate credentials — see the
[Apple Search Ads setup guide](/docs/paid-media/apple-setup).
