# Phone Verification (/docs/account/phone-verification)



Add a verified phone number from **Account → Phone verification** so Elle
can message you over SMS / iMessage.

## Flow [#flow]

1. Enter your phone in E.164 format (e.g. `+15551234567`).
2. We send a 6-digit verification code via iMessage / SMS.
3. Enter the code within 10 minutes.
4. Phone is now marked verified.

## Rate limit [#rate-limit]

A maximum of 3 verification codes can be sent per account per hour. If you
hit the limit, wait an hour before requesting another code.

## Removing your phone [#removing-your-phone]

You can unlink at any time from your account settings. Doing so disables
Elle's outbound messaging to that number.
